My New Favourite High Street Foundation! - Maybelline Matte & Poreless Review

Image
Hi!
I have dry skin. Very dry skin. But I absolutely love matte foundation. So finding a foundation that makes my skin beautifully matte and not looking & feeling like the Sahara desert is kind of hard. I've tried Rimmel's Stay Matte foundation, Max Factor's Whipped Crème foundation, and so on, but they've never had the right texture. But recently found Maybelline's Matte & Poreless foundation, and I love it!

I have the shade '115 Ivory', and it only costs £6.99.

Packaging

On the whole, I do not like the packaging that this product has. It's in a squeezy tube which is really hard to get all of the product out, and when you get to the end you have to snip the top off to get it all out. This process normally ends up in a huge mess. I much prefer a tube with a pump. However, that being said, some of the shades do actually come in a glass bottle. I don't know why. But the black design with the pale turquoise accent colour is really quite good lo…

e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzer Powder - review

Image
Hi!
So I love blusher and bronzer. And I am always on the look out for the best possible products for the best possible price. And this little duo from e.l.f. is definitely one of my favourite products. It is affordable, has good-looking packaging, and contains genuinely great powders. What's not to love?
I have the shade 'St. Lucia' and it only costs £5!

Firstly, the packaging of this product is very nice. It comes in a sleek, matte black case, and is very similar to that of Nars. This packaging also features a good sized mirror and therefore makes this product perfect for traveling with. The casing also feels very sturdy, and unlikely to break.

The actual powders are really lovely. The blusher is a pale peachy-pink colour and has gold shimmer running through it. The pigmentation is perfect so that it adds a subtle glow to the face. The bronzing powder is also warm toned, again with the gold shimmer within it. When applied to the hollows of the cheeks, temples, and under…

Rimmel Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil - Review

Image
Hi!
I have mentioned this is a couple of my earlier posts, but if you don't know, I love highlighters. What I also love, are products that are new and that I haven't tried anything like it before. The products that I am reviewing today is all of those. It is is the Rimmel Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil in the shade '002 Shimmer'. I never thought I needed a highlighter specifically for the brow/eye area, but this little product showed me that I did need one. And it is very affordable as it only costs £4.99!

This product is a very cute, little chubby stick, that is iridescent/champagne in colour. The outside of the pencil is the same colour as the highlighter. It is small, but it is mighty. It is a typical wooden pencil, with a clear, plastic lid that fits nicely onto to the top, and feels unlikely to slide off in a makeup bag.

The actual highlighter is firm in texture, to applies smoothly to wherever you apply it. it has a slightly warm undertone to it. It also has …

NYX Illuminator - review

Image
Hi!
In one of my previous blog posts, I mentioned how much I love highlighter, and one of my favourite drugstore illuminators is the NYX Illuminator in the shade 'Ritualistic'. I pretty much use a highlighter every day without fail, even when I'm not wearing that much makeup. This highlighter, in particular, brings a beautiful glow to the face, but is not glittery, which is what I find with many drugstore highlighters. However, it does cost £9.50, which is a lot for a high street highlighter.

Firstly, this product come in very good packaging. It is a sleek, black plastic pan, with pale pink lettering. Inside, there is a mirror the same size as the lid, which therefore makes this product very travel-friendly. This highlighter is such high quality and feels unlikely to break in a handbag or makeup bag.
The actual product itself is brilliant. It is a cool-toned, almost-white highlighter. In these pictures, the highlight does look fairly golden, but is, in fact, a whitish col…

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner - review

Image
Hi!
It has taken me a while to get into using lip liners. Originally, I did see the point of them, but as time went on, I finally discovered a few that I loved. One of these is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Contouring Pencil (phew) in the shade '050 Tiramisu'. And it only costs £2.99!

The packaging of this product is just the traditional wood pencil design. Personally, I much prefer the plastic, retractable kind, but for the price, you can't complain. The plastic cap fits snugly onto the pencil, and therefore unlikely to slide off when in a makeup bag or handbag.
Tiramisu is a beautiful neutral shade, like a terracotta colour. It has a firm texture, but soft enough that it glides onto the lips. It is also immensely pigmented, and very matte. That being said, it is fairly drying, especially if applied all over lips, but that is quite a common flaw with many lipliners, drugstore or high end.

When worn all over lips with no lipstick or gloss, it does last a very long time,…

Olay Double Action Day Cream & Primer - review

Image
Hi!
The thought of waking up first thing in the morning, having to stand in front of your bathroom mirror and doing your 10-15 minute skin care routine can be tiring just to think about. It is why I like skincare products that can minimise the time I spend on skincare/makeup in the morning. A few months back, I first tried the This Works 'In Transit Camera Close-Up', which is a mask, moisturiser, and primer in one. It was an amazing product, but the £28 price tag was, for me, too expensive. So I endeavored to find one in the drugstore and picked up this little gem at only £4.89.

This Olay product is a moisturiser and primer all in one. It reduces the time I spend on my skincare/makeup regime as I don't have to wait for my moisturiser to absorb into my skin before I apply my primer.
It is a pale pink cream that comes in a sturdy tub with a black lid, and it comes in a box when you buy it. The packaging certainly makes it feel more than the price that I paid, which is alwa…
